The Crooks lab has developed a variety of culture systems with which we can interrogate the full lineage potential of human hematopoietic populations at a clonal level and test the function of human hematopoietic stem and progenitors in vivo using xenogeneic transplant models. We study the identification, characterization and manipulation of human hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells using multi-parameter flow cytometry, in vitro lineage specific differentiation assays, lentiviral vector mediated gene transfer, immune deficient transplantation models and in vivo imaging of engraftment.
