Now available are two one-year fellowship in general Surgical Pathology at the UCLA-affiliated Olive View-UCLA Medical Center in nearby Sylmar, California. The fellow's primary responsibilities include signing out of surgical cases, frozen section diagnosis and occasional autopsies. The program offers excellent experience in fine needle aspiration.

After six months, the fellow may function as a junior attending by signing out cases with gradually increasing responsibility. With UCLA residents and fellows, and attending staff of seven, and more than 10,000 of pathology cases process annually, there are many opportunities for interacting with staff and direct teaching. In addition, the county hospital provides exposure to many unusual and rare cases. There is also ample opportunity for attending and organizing specialty conferences. Research and study time is available, including elective time in selected subspecialty areas. The rotations are predominantly at the Olive View/UCLA Hospital with the option to do electives at other hospitals including the UCLA-affiliated institutions.

Requirements & Applications

Please review the required application requirements and send the application materials via email to the Program Coordinator, Cynthia Inez.  Please make sure that the letters of reference are addressed to Payman Fathizadeh, M.D.  Applications are considered on a rolling basis.
