After six months, the fellow may function as a junior attending by signing out cases with gradually increasing responsibility. With UCLA residents and fellows, and attending staff of five, there are many opportunities for interacting with staff and direct teaching. In addition, the county hospital provides exposure to many unusual and rare cases. There is also ample opportunity for attending and organizing specialty conferences. Research and study time is available, including elective time in selected subspecialty areas. The rotations are predominantly at the Olive View/UCLA Hospital with the option to do electives at other hospitals including the UCLA main campus.
Please review the required application requirements and send the application materials via email to the Fellowship Coordinator, Heidi Merkin. Please make sure that the letters of reference are addressed to the Program Director. Applications should be submitted 1 1/2 years prior to the desired fellowship or by February 1st of the year preceding the fellowship. However, applications are still considered on a rolling basis.
